Congratulations to the Burlington team of Margaret Beacroft and Joan Way for winning the Last Hurrah, which is historically the season's final open tournament in District 5. Many of the participants thanked the club's greenskeeping team for vastly improving Roselawn's greens this year.

District 5 Ladies Luncheon.
Burlington women's team,
Wednesday Interclub League.

The Burlington women's team gathered at Southcote 53 Restaurant for their post-season luncheon on Sept. 26. The ladies finished 3rd this year with Dundas winning the Interclub championship.
On the men's side, Burlington teams finished 2nd and 3rd behind Dundas. BLBC fields two men's teams in the interclub.

2018 Indoor Singles Qualifier

Congratulations to Burlington's Patrick Cote on winning the Gold Medal in the Provincial Indoor Qualifier played Sept. 23 on Willowdale's south green (which is an outdoor artificial surface), Toronto.
Patrick advances to the National Indoor Singles Championships slated for the Pacific Indoor LBC in Vancouver, October 22 to 27.
The winner of this event will represent Canada at the World Cup of Indoor Bowls.

Congrats to the Burlington teams of Michael Spadafora, Remi Canuel, Joan Way and Vern Lessard, Rusty Ruggles, Margaret Beacroft for winning all 3 matches including all 6 sides. Three-game total: 93 points for and 43 points against!

Congrats to the Burlington team of Theresa Kennedy, Barbara Day Wills and Valerie King for winning the Bronze Medal!


August 6, 2018.
Civic Day Holiday Jitney.
Despite the hot weather, the club still celebrated the Civic Holiday with a Pizza Party and Jitney. However, the jitney was cut to one 12-end game, with 52 members ignoring the heat to play in the morning.
Congrats to Dorothy McIntyre, Freda Gersok and Sharron Treeby for winning the triples, and to Theresa Kennedy and Kathleen Mein for having the best pairs games.
Due to the generosity of another great sponsor, AMICA of Dundas, half of the participants received a ‘winner’s share’.

August 4, 2018.
Club Championship: Novice Singles.
Top three-game winners:
Women, Barb Day Wills 3 wins 42 + 5 for, 19 against. Her final game against Nancy Skinner was especially scary, as it was decided by a measure for the final point. Runner up was Theresa Kennedy, 2 wins 39 for, 21 against.
Men: Don Rush 3 wins 36 for, 21 against. It was not a run-away for Don either, but a great win just the same. Second place went to Roger Berg, 2 wins, 38 for, 24 against.
FIRST STEP ACCOMPLISHED: With the change in the OLBA rules, a novice player must win their club championship in order to go on to the District 5 Novice Singles to be held at BLBC August 25-26.

Men: Gold Medal Winners:
Derek Barker, Michael Briks and Remi Canuel (Burlington LBC).
Women: Silver Medal Winners:
Ruby Du Feu, Joan Way and Katherine Smith (Burlington LBC).
Both teams will now represent Ontario at the Canadian Seniors Championships to be played in Calgary, Alberta, September 10 to 15.
